CLAAS is the world market leader in its second major product group, self-propelled forage harvesters.From the very beginning, the company's strategy was geared towards innovation. Initially, company founder August Claas, who had the company entered in the commercial register in 1913, produced high-performance straw binders together with his brothers Franz and Theo. An improved knotter safely processed the then poor binding twine into a tight knot for the straw bundles. In 1936, the first combine harvester suitable for European harvesting conditions went into series production. Since then, the combine harvester has been inextricably linked with the CLAAS name. It is primarily thanks to this machine that CLAAS has achieved its international size and importance.
